How can I better love my marriage partner?
There are specific ways individuals can express and experience love. Sometimes, we need a little help. The following acronym on love will help you remember to take another look at love and become more knowledgeable and more effective at loving your marriage partner.
- Learning—Learning develops intimacy (the ability to be known and to know another). What have you learned about your spouse that has strengthened your love for him or her?
- Observing—With the busy schedule of life, work, and family, the marriage relationship can become neglected. We fail to observe the warning signs and often end up hurting each other in the marriage. We need to keep constant attention toward building a strong, healthy, and fulfilling marriage.
- Valuing—Do you feel valued in your relationship? We have so much potential to love and show value to one another. Sometimes we don’t realize how much we knock the wind out of our love by not showing value to each other.
- Encouraging—Are you encouraging each other? Constant discouragement can become a silent killer in relationships. Look for ways to be more encouraging to one another.
In what ways can you incorporate the L-O-V-E of love into your marriage?
